The program is scheduled to take place August 10-19, 2008.
The Writing Program trains economic educators to write economic education instructional materials in a five-day workshop. This program is for outstanding economic educators who have the commitment and support to continue developing high-quality economic education instructional materials after completing this program. These teachers must demonstrate a commitment to economic education and to working with their
national, regional, or local organizations for economic education in their country. Teachers from the United States are partnered with educators from other countries in the development of the curriculum. After the workshop, participants will be required to develop an economics lesson plan that uses an active-learning approach and is appropriate for use in their respective countries. Feedback will be provided to participants for the improvement of their lesson, and the U.S. faculty will work intensively with writers on improving their lesson to a publishable form.
NCEE is seeking outstanding economic educators, particularly classroom teachers, who have the commitment and support to continue developing high-quality economic education instructional materials after completing this program. Successful applicants will demonstrate a commitment to economic education and to working with their state council and/or local center for economic education. Housing (double room occupancy), meals, and transportation will be covered by NCEE. No family members or friends may accompany participants to the orientation or workshop.

NCEE Study Tour to the Republic of South Africa

NCEE Study Tours
The MN Council can put you in contact with Minnesota teachers who have previously participated in a NCEE Study Tour. You can ask Claudia Parliament or one of the center directors for a letter of reference for your application.
Study tours are for U.S. educators who teach economics, history, social studies, and civics at the K-12 level will be selected. Different countries with transitioning economies are selected for the tours. Teachers selected to attend will participate in and observe economic education activities, including school visits, observations of teacher-training activities, and meetings with ministry officials and leaders in education. Teachers will meet with teachers, share ideas and experiences in economic education, and observe their peers as they creatively deliver lessons
in economics to students in elementary and secondary schools. U.S. participants will also learn about in-country education reforms, training and delivery systems, curriculum and materials development, standards, and assessment. Activities showcasing cultural aspects of the selected are also be included.
