Information for New Users
The Online Test of Economic Literacy (TEL) is a nationally-normed, standardized test developed by the National Council on Economic Education.

In terms of national priorities, Economics has been identified as a "Core Academic Subject" in the federal No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 [Title IX, Section 9101(11)]. The Act also requires the development of a national assessment to determine what 12th graders know and can do in Economics.

Do you know how well your students are doing?
The Test of Economic Literacy (TEL) is now available online. The web-based version of the assessment makes it even easier to administer and to analyze student learning in your economics class. TEL is a nationally-normed, standardized test developed by the National Council on Economic Education. It is designed to measure high school students' understanding of economics. The test consists of 40 multiple-choice questions and covers four content categories: fundamental economic concepts, microeconomic concepts, macroeconomic concepts, and international economic concepts.
