Mathematics and Economics naturally compliment each other. In today's era of interdisciplinary studies, this new curriculum—created especially for elementary mathematics teachers—hits the educational target by showing how mathematics concepts and knowledge can be used to develop economics and personal financial understandings.
Take a new approach to elementary school mathematics by incorporating economics into your lesson plans and explore the effects economics has in our everyday lives. Mathematics and Economics: Grades 3-5 uses mathematical skills to solve practical economic and personal finance problems. Twelve standards-based lessons demonstrate how math and economics influence our lives. Lessons focus on teaching mathematics while educating students to be wiser producers and consumers.
There is a $25.00 registration fee for participants. Registration includes a complimentary copy of the curriculum, Mathematics & Economics: Connections for Life, Grades 3-5, morning refreshments, lunch, and continuing education credits.
This workshop is brought to you by generous support from the Medtronic Foundation STAR Grant.
