Math and Economics -and- Mini-Economy Grades 3-5
Next workshop to be scheduled.
Registration Policy: Refundable deposit required for all workshops!

This one-day free workshop will provide demonstration lessons from two new publications from the National Council on Economic Education.
Mathematics and Economics: Grades 3-5 uses mathematical skills to solve practical economic and personal finance problems. Twelve standards-based lessons reveal how mathematics and economics influence students' lives. Exploring real-world economic issues through a fun hands-on approach stimulates students to see mathematics as a problem solving tool. The lessons focus on teaching mathematics while educating students to be wiser producers and consumers.
Help your students understand their role in the global economy by turning your classroom into a mini-economy. The Classroom Mini-Economy is a semester-long simulation using activities that mirror everyday life and teach important life skills. Students learn about entrepreneurship as they establish a business, open a bank, and decide how to distribute items and privileges. Included in the curriculum are all the tools and techniques you need to successfully implement your mini-economy.
There is no fee to register for this workshop. Participants will receive copies of the curricula, and lunch and morning refreshments will be provided.
This workshop is made possible by a grant from the National Council on Economic Education through funding from 3M.
