-and- January 2009 St. Cloud Ag Tech Conference

Registration Policy:  Refundable deposit required for all workshops!

The Minnesota Council on Economic Education offers an "Economic Systems" class to help agriculture educators prepare students to meet state academic standards in economics. It is open to teachers who have not attended a course by this title in the past six years.

The course includes a review of basic economic concepts, use of materials to augment interactive learning, and an examination of assessment techniques. Educators will receive instructional materials that include lessons listing concepts, objectives, procedures, and suggested assessment methods. Content areas to be addressed include micro, macro, and international economics in the context of agriculture.

There is a $50 refundable deposit required to register for this two-credit graduate class. The free credits from the University of Minnesota will be granted upon completion of course requirements. The course will meet July 10-11 for microeconomics. The class will meet for two days during the January 2009 Ag Tech Conference for macroeconomics. A day to be determined will cover international economics.

A $100 stipend will be paid for full participation. Travel stipends of $35 are available for two follow-up sessions to participants who live outside the 7-county metropolitan area.

This project is funded by the Federal Improving Teacher Quality Program of the No Child Left Behind Act administered by the Minnesota Office of Higher Education.
