Economics Systems for Agriculture Teachers: 2009-2010

July 9-10, 2009 in Morton, MN
-and- January 2010 in St. Cloud, MN

The Minnesota Council on Economic Education (MCEE) in cooperation with the Minnesota Association of Agricultural Educators (MAAE) offers the Economic Systems for Agriculture Teachers class to help high school educators prepare students to meet state academic standards in economics.

The course includes a review of basic economic concepts, use of materials to augment interactive learning, and an examination of assessment techniques. Educators will receive instructional materials that include lessons listing concepts, objectives, procedures, and suggested assessment methods. Content areas to be addressed include micro and macro economics. Participants will be informed of follow up opportunities during the school year that provide additional opportunities to build their understanding of economics and its application in agriculture.

You will benefit from this class. “Everyday I went home with too many ideas to contemplate! Both professors simplified the material for high school and made me feel comfortable with economics. I want to be excited about economics. Thank you for the excitement!” (Quote from a teacher in last summer's Economic Systems class.)

The course meets 8:00 - 4:00 daily in conjunction with the MAAE Summer Conference in July and the Ag Tech Conference in January 2010. Participants will receive lunch and morning refreshments and curriculum. Clock hours are available for this course. Graduate credits are not offered.
