New workshop!

This pre-conference workshop focuses on the concepts highlighted in MCEE's Global Food Challenge curriculum: food markets, food trade, food security, and food safety.

The morning will include sessions led by Professor Curt Anderson, University of Minnesota - Duluth, and Terry Hurley, University of Minnesota – Twin Cities, with guest speakers from Minnesota's business and university community on global food markets, food trade, food security, and food safety. In the afternoon, we'll take off in a bus to visit places like the St. Paul Port Authority or other Minnesota food transport gateways. The day ends with a group dinner.

Already familiar with the curriculum? The day still has plenty of new material for you – including the guest speakers, site visits, and release of the two newly written units on food security and food safety.

Spend the next two days with teachers from across the state at our annual summer conference. The conference is our annual gathering of teachers of economics and personal finance. Enhance your content knowledge and walk away with new resources, including the newly revised Focus: High School Economics publication, containing over 20 interactive lessons in teaching high school micro and macro. New this year – teachers can register for a single day or attend both days of the conference!

Registration and Available Stipends and Scholarships

Registration includes all materials, continuing education units, and meals. Registration for the one-day Global Food Summit is $30 and participants receive an $80 participation stipend.

Travel scholarships, including hotel, are available for 35 individuals who reside outside the seven county Metro area and Pierce and St. Croix counties. The travel scholarship consists of one $125 stipend to cover mileage and up to $100 per night (1 night) to cover hotel. Receipts are required for hotel reimbursement.

Agricultural Educators -- up to 12 travel scholarships are reserved just for you! Register by June 15 to be eligible for these scholarships. To qualify, you must reside outside the seven county Metro area and Piece and St. Croix counties. After June 15, we will release the remaining scholarships to other educators.

Conference + Summit Registration, Scholarships and Stipends: Registration for the Global Food Summit and one day of the Conference is $60 and registration for the Global Food Summit and entire Conference is $100.

Participants who attend both the Global Food Summit and the Conference are eligible to receive an additional $80 participation stipend and $100 travel stipend for an additional hotel night (receipts required).
