MCEE is proud to announce the winners of the 2018 Money Smart Teen Essay Contest in partnership with COUNTRY Financial!
Created to support Money Smart Week, a national public awareness campaign, the Money Smart Teen Essay Contest asked students to write an essay answering the question "What are the potential devastating effects of a natural disaster on a family's financial situation? What are some tips and resources to help prepare a family for a potential future unexpected crisis?"
In his essay, winning student, Yonah Davis, a junior at St. Louis Park High School, encouraged people to fully understand what their insurance policy covers and to start an emergency savings account that can be accessed easily as well as keeping some extra cash on hand. Yonah received a $3,000 scholarship from COUNTRY Financial.
Runners-up in this year's contest were Will Sagstetter of Roseville Area High School and Zurisaddai Alfonso of Hiawatha Collegiate High School. Each received $1,000 scholarships from COUNTRY Financial.
