This June 26-30, 41 high school students from around the Twin Cities joined MCEE at the University of Minnesota for the week-long Personal Finance Summer Institute. Sponsored by the Affinity Plus Foundation, Marbrook Foundation, RBC Wealth Management, and the Youth Philanthropy Fund of the Minneapolis Foundation, the Summer Institute is a chance for students who are low-income, students of color, and first in their family to attend college, to learn about personal finance and college readiness.

St. Thomas Academy won first place at the Minnesota Personal Finance Decathlon State Championship on April 12 at the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis. Faribault High School placed second, and Mounds View High School and Robbinsdale Armstrong High School were state finalists.

For the second year, high school students from the metro area gathered at the University of Minnesota for a College in the Schools Field Day on the economics of food security using MCEE'sGlobal Food Challenge curriculum. The day included a panel of experts, including Tikki Brown from the MN Department of Human Services, Colleen Moriarty from Hunger Solutions Minnesota, Mike Zerr, economist at Cargill, and Tim Bodin, retired economist and MCEE Board Chair.
