Winners and photos from the Personal Finance Decathlon, online professional development courses for high school teachers, 2016 Global Food Challenge, and more news from MCEE!

 

St. Paul, MN – April 11, 2016 – Mounds View High School defended their title at the Minnesota Personal Finance Decathlon State Championship on April 6 at the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis winning first place for the second year in a row. Albany Area High School placed second, and Como Park High School (St. Paul) and Robbinsdale Armstrong High School were state finalists.

 

Minnesota looks to continue its winning tradition in the National Economics Challenge next week as 19 teams from 16 middle and high schools across the state participate in the state championship on April 20 at the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis.

As part of Minnesota’s Financial Literacy Month, twelve teams from twelve Minnesota middle and high schools from across the state will compete at the Personal Finance Decathlon State Championship on Wednesday, April 6 at the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis.

On January 8, over 400 students from the metro area gathered at the University of Minnesota for a College in the Schools Field Day on the economics of food security using MCEE's Global Food Challenge curriculum. The day included a presentation on the SNAP program by Dr. Lisa Harnack of the School of Public Health and a panel of experts representing policy makers, nonprofit organizations, academia, and industry, including MCEE board member and Cargill economist Tim Bodin.
