The Thrivent Personal Finance Educator Awards were introduced in 2006 to recognize teachers who create and implement innovative lessons that increase personal finance understanding.
Teachers may nominate themselves or may be nominated by a peer, school administrator, curriculum specialist, director of a center for economic education, community or business representative.
The award is open to Minnesota teachers in grades K-12.
In selecting the winning teachers, judges will consider:
- Innovation in approach and development
- Emphasis on personal finance concepts
- Ease of replication by other educators
- Assessment of student learning
A Thrivent Personal Finance Educator Award will be given in two categories - one for K-8 and one for secondary level grades 9-12. Winners receive cash prizes of $500. Winning entries will be featured on the Minnesota Council's website.
Award winners, along with their administrators, will be honored at EconFest, our annual recognition event in the fall.
You can now submit online! Go to https://z.umn.edu/2sob and complete the online form. You will need to have a Word or PDF of your lesson plan to upload, as well as examples of student work (not required, but highly encouraged), and any assessment tools used in the lesson.
