New Course!

Eventbrite - Jump$tart Personal Finance

This new, three-day course is designed to give teachers the tools and confidence to implement positive financial management both in their own lives and with their students. The workshop uses the Jump$tart Financial Foundations model that connects teachers with personal finance experts. In addition to hands-on material received during the course, teachers will receive two free personal finance curricula: Financial Fitness for Life from the Center for Economic Education (CEE) and High School Financial Planning Program from the National Endowment for Financial Education.

During the workshop, teachers will have the opportunity to explore the following with guest speakers and experts:

1. Examine how economic trends impact personal financial situations
2. Develop personal finance strategies
3. Identify ways to build wealth through saving and investing
4. Assess how career planning impacts earning power
5. Compare and contrast financial services and products
6. Specify strategies to protect from fraud
7. Consider options when using credit and managing debt
8. Devise plans to minimize financial risk
9. Explore personal finance resources.

Guest speakers for this workshop will be announced in the Spring.

This workshop is made possible through generous funding from the MN Jump$tart Coalition and community sponsors including, 1st National Bank of Bemidji, The Marine Bank, Sharepoint Credit Union, and United Educators Credit Union.
