Macroeconomics for High School Teachers - Online

Intended for teachers who want to build or enhance their content knowledge, this three-credit graduate level course consists of both self-paced and synchronized online learning activities and covers the macroeconomic concepts in the Minnesota Economics Standards for grades 9-12. Teachers will learn strategies for developing curriculum and instruction for macroeconomics that engages students of diverse backgrounds.

Participants should expect to spend 4 hours per week on course materials (including online assignments) and an additional hour per week for a live class webinar. Participants can take this course for 3 graduate credits at a reduced rate of $400/credit (partial scholarships are available to help defray tuition costs) or for 50 continuing education units.   • Course Instructor is MCEE Master Teacher James Redelsheimer, Robbinsdale Armstrong High School
  • Course Director is Dr. Frances Homans, Department of Applied Economics, University of Minnesota

Cost:

  • $120 registration fee
  • +$400/credit for graduate credit (total of $1,200).

All participants should register through Eventbrite. When registering, participants will indicate if they want to take the course for graduate credit and will be contacted with more information.

Minnesota pre-service & licensed teachers can apply for a 50% graduate credit scholarship (refund) if they wish.  Please contact Angela at azappa@umn.edu to do so.

Eligibility for Course:

  • This course is open to both pre-service and licensed teachers. No fall classroom placement required.
  • This course will only be offered if at least 10 participants register. If the course is canceled due to low enrollment, full refunds will be offered.
